A Decade of Glorious Art

We’re celebrating our tenth anniversary this week at Huff Harrington Fine Art.  It’s been a decade of glorious art thanks to our wonderful artists and the magic they create on the canvas.  We’re humbled and grateful that, ten years later, many of the same artists who took that plunge with us are still selling like crazy.

Over the years, we’ve been happily surrounded by the most beautiful and mesmerizing paintings, many of which spent way too little time on our walls before finding happy homes.

Take a look at the ones from our early artists that still tug at our heartstrings:

Nancy Franke's 2011 For Me, 12 x 12, oil on canvas.
Nancy Franke’s 2011 For Me, 12 x 12, oil on canvas.  Our dear friend and incredibly talented artist has perfected light, palette, composition and contrast on the canvas.  This one says it all.

Lorraine Christie's Patience, 36 x 24, oil on canvas. 2009
Lorraine Christie‘s Patience, 36 x 24, oil on canvas. 2009.  (A couple of us actually had tears in our eyes the day this one got away.  Lucky client: you know who you are!)

Melissa Payne Baker, Grove, 40 x 40, mixed media on canvas. 2014. Melissa Payne Baker, Grove, 40 x 40, mixed media on canvas. 2014.  Melissa was an emerging artist when we called her up in the early days.  We couldn't have asked for a more inspired and enthusiastic painter, not to mention cheerleader and dear friend.

Pascal Bouterin, Promenade en Couple, 42 x 42, oil on board.
Pascal Bouterin, Promenade en Couple, 42 x 42, oil on board.  We adore Pascal, our French painter and musician.  His carefully abstracted figures are entrancing and the backgrounds are texture-laden.  (Pascal will be playing with his jazz entourage at the gallery on Saturday, February 27th as we party our arts out in honor of the anniversary!)

Nancy Franke's Clementine, oil on board. 2008. Ann: "When Clementine arrived from Nancy Franke, we bonded immediately and I decided she’d be perfect for the Paris apartment that we were redoing at the time (2007).  Just as our little time limit was up, a lovely client came in and purchased her. I shed a couple of tears to see her go, and I’ve never let him forget it!  (It turns out he’s crazy about her, and we joke about it every time I see him.)"

Bethanne Cople's Wyeth at the Farnsworth, 20 x 16, oil on board. Mac's never gotten over this one: "I absolutely love Laura Lacambra Shubert’s painting “Wyeth at the Farnsworth,” not just because beautifully painted (her use of color is truly remarkable), but I can also see myself in this painting! One of my go-to hairstyles is a side braid and of course being an art lover and avid museum-goer, this piece immediately jumped out at me. I’ve had my eye on it ever since we received it, and full disclosure: I’ve even made it the background image on my computer. The funny thing is, I’ve had a couple gallery patrons tell me the same thing! So I’m happy to say that the resemblance is not in my head after all!"

Lorraine Christie's Envy, 30 x 40, oil on canvas. 2014.
Lorraine Christie’s Envy, 30 x 40, oil on canvas. 2014.  We could have sold this one ten times.  All of us at the gallery were drawn to this piece: the confident woman in red, the interesting relationship play of the other characters – and even the paintings in the painting!

Bethanne Cople's "As She Dances About the Sun, " 6 x 8, oil on board.
Bethanne Cople’s As She Dances About the Sun,  6 x 8, oil on board. 2015.  Bethanne is one of the most talented plain-air painters we know – and just about one of the nicest.  She surprised us with a new series in 2015.

Amy Dixon By The Window, 36 x 48, mixed media. 2010. Meg: "For me, this is the one that got away. I was instantly drawn to this painting but just kept putting it off and putting it off...until finally one day, she was gone. I was heartbroken - and learned my lesson!

Attitude! Bonnie Beauchamp Cooke's I'll Think About It, 48 x 30, mixed media on canvas.
Attitude! Bonnie Beauchamp Cooke’s I’ll Think About It, 48 x 30, mixed media on canvas.  Bonnie’s ladies have struck a chord with our clients over the years, that’s for sure.

Christian Nepo's Bateaux dans les Nuages. 12 x 19, oil on paper. This one is a new painting and we can't take our eyes off it!
Christian Nepo’s Bateaux dans les Nuages. 12 x 19, oil on paper. This one is a new painting and we can’t take our eyes off it!  A couple of us may get into a scuffle over the new series that Monsieur Nepo painted for us earlier this year.

Angela Nesbit's Clockwork Orange, 40 x 30, oil on canvas.
Angela Nesbit’s Clockwork Orange, 40 x 30, oil on canvas.  Angela was one of the early signees and we’ve loved watching her style change and grow.  Her latest batch of oils are simply mouth-watering.

Andrea Costa, Fearless, 70 x 34, mixed media on canvas. Linda: "I love this Andrea Costa encaustic painting from the moment it arrived! Not only do I love the gorgeous palette and unique size, but also with the way she’s seated, with her arm over her head. It is a very strong painting with a perfect title of “Fearless” which I try to remind myself to be every day! I still miss her."

Christina Doelling, Serenity for Me, 48 x 36, mixed media on canvas.
Christina Doelling, Serenity for Me, 48 x 36, mixed media on canvas.  A dedicated abstractist, Christina never fails to deliver gorgeous and interesting work.

And a heartfelt thank you to all of our artists – from the ones who took a chance ten years ago to the ones who have just joined our gallery family. We are so grateful for the privilege of representing you – your dedication,  talent and commitment to your craft is inspiring.  Your work has changed our lives and spread great joy among our clients.

It’s been a great ride and we’re ready for the next ten years!

Ta ta.

P.S: hope you can join us Saturday, February 27th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery for bubbles, nibbles and jazz. We’ll be partying our arts out and look forward to seeing you.
