There hasn’t been a dull minute around here lately and this week is no different: we’re headed up to beautiful and cool Cashiers to install our space at the 21st annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse benefitting the Cashiers Historical Society. The event opens with a swanky black-tie soiree on July 27th and tours begin July 28th through August 5th.
We’re always delighted and honored whenever we get the nod to participate in this event – the Historical Society people are gracious and professional and we love meeting and collaborating with talented designers. Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles is the media sponsor for the event and they do a wonderful job of capturing each year’s house with gorgeous photography.
This is our fourth time at Cashiers and every year brings a new space and new opportunities for design creativity. We’ve done everything from a guest bedroom to a guesthouse and a covered porch – and had a blast each time.
Last year, we had fun with a covered porch:
This year, the Showhouse takes place at a Mediterranean-inspired custom villa perched on a hillside overlooking beautiful Lake Glenville. The home is the brainchild of a couple, Brenda and Terry Beye, who basically imagined exactly what they wanted and then built it, very lovingly.
We’ve been assigned the main gallery/hallway that stretches almost the width of the home and opens to the spectacular terrace that overlooks the lake. The hallway is a perfect spot for us to hang some well-chosen art from the gallery along with a couple hand-picked special pieces we’ve found in France: a crunchy, gilt-y console and a gorgeous 19th century chinoiserie buffet. We think they’ll really shine when we hang some very clean, contemporary paintings over them.
There are 13 designers participating this year and we can promise (based on a sneak peek!) that the design bar is as high as it always is, combining a magical mixture of excellent taste, creativity and inspiration both inside and outside.
We can’t wait to get up there (out of the Atlanta heat) and get to work on our space. We might be posting a progress shot or two on Instagram (@huffharrington). So mark your calendars and book your tickets now for this wonderful annual event that combines the very best of Southern design with plenty of socializing and shopping.
PS: we’re on sale at Huff Harrington Home through Saturday, July 28th. We only go on sale twice a year and we’re clearing out space for a new container as well as incoming goodies we’ve been snapping up from our U.S. vendors. Swing on by and check out 30-50% off selected merchandise.
