We’re delighted to welcome Lily Harrington to our gallery family – and speaking of, Lily really is family!
As the proud mom, I’m thrilled to pieces that Ann, Linda and Mac have enthusiastically jumped on board to bring Lily on at the gallery – and we’re all excited to officially debut her very first show this coming Saturday, June 29th from 6-8 at the gallery.
Just for some background, Lily’s art journey had a serendipitous beginning about four years ago when she was a senior in high school and got a commission from the lovely Heather Roberts, an Atlanta designer who had a local project in the works. The job ended up being featured in Better Homes and Gardens and Lily’s career was officially launched.
Oil paint definitely runs through this girl’s veins – both her grandmother and aunt are talented oil painters and in school, Lily had always loved her art classes. But working with Heather jump-started Lily’s desire to create and before we knew it, we had an easel, loads of canvases and plenty of paint spattering and dotting the floors and walls. And thanks to sweet, supportive friends and family, the sales began to roll in and the word spread.
Lily’s completely self-taught but has found inspiration and guidance from several of our dear HHFA artists who have encouraged her and given her tips and hints. Her work is abstract, textural, loose and lively – and it’s been so fun to watch her refine her process. Take a peek at some of the pieces we’ll be showing:
Lily works mostly in oils and mixed media with plenty of oil pastel crayons thrown in as squiggles, lines and points of interest in the paintings.
Lily’s currently a rising senior at the University of Georgia where she’s double-majoring in English and Cognitive Science.
Who knows where life is going to take her, but we hope she’ll keep painting wherever she ends up.
(Oh and Lily, congratulations from your very, very proud parents!)
Hope you can stop by Saturday, June 29 from 6 to 8 at the gallery to say hello to Lily.
