Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. That’s how we felt when we saw Faye Phillips’ darling sketches of her Painting Trip to Provence with Nancy Franke. Her playful sketches capture the magic and imagery of Provence with wit and whimsy, in a way that words and photographs cannot convey. So we asked Faye if we could share her twinkly view of Provence with our friends and readers, and she happily agreed. Feast your eyes, because you’re in for a little pictorial treat!
We asked Faye what inspired her to create this wonderful sketch-o-gram of her week in Provence, and this is how she explained it:
“I serendipitously bought the little sketchbook at Sennilier on my second day in France, and borrowed my friend’s watercolors. For once, the camera just didn’t do justice in recording how I felt about being there, so my little sketches were a vain attempt to slow down time – never dreaming that others would see or connect with the whimsy and playfulness!”
Here’s what we think: Did Faye capture the magic, the fun, the energy and charm of Provence? Oui, oui and oui! Here’s to you, Faye — Merci!
