“Please pretty please, will she let us paint her floors white?”
That, as you can imagine, is the familiar whining sound coming from our ever-so-persistent and persuasive design diva, Sam Jones, referring to an exciting upcoming project for a client’s condo in San Francisco. Sam’s plea was accompanied by convincing images of gorgeous apartments, all of them with white floors, and the message, “She is giving us carte blanche to redo her condo. Doesn’t that mean white floors?”
It’s true, starting tomorrow we have a dream project to redo, decorate and fluff a beautiful 1,200 square foot condo in the heart of my favorite neighborhood, Pacific Heights. Our lovely client has given us carte blanche, and the only strings attached are a modest budget and a very limited schedule — as in 3 days! But that actually makes it more fun, and we welcome the challenge!
I asked Sam if I could blog about her inspirational photos, and she sent me another twenty or so and said, “Have at it!” I’ve always loved white floors myself, especially in darker rooms, so it’s been fun getting inspired from this eclectic bunch.
So will “carte blanche” lead to white floors with our San Francisco client? Probably not for the living rooms in the condo – because that would be a logistical nightmare, with only three days for our complete overhaul. But Sam and I have been known to be sneaky. So in the next few days, when our client’s not looking, we may, just may, accidentally spill white paint on her kitchen and bedroom floors. Stay tuned … and wish us luck!
